Mayor suggests charging state more, agency considers closing Blountville office

A decision by Sullivan County Mayor Steve Godsey to charge the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation more money to use county office space appears to have rubbed TDEC the wrong way. For years, TDEC has operated a satellite office on Highway 126 in Blountville. The office, which issues septic tank permits, is housed in the basement of the Sullivan County EMS building.
