VA passes mental health bill- hits close to home for state Senator Deeds

One of the mental health bills Virginia State Senator Creigh Deeds (D) introduced to a general assembly subcommittee has been approved.The bill requires Virginia to review the requirements for the qualifications, training and oversight of mental health professionals who perform evaluations for emergency custody orders.The panel sent the bill to the full Senate Education Health committee for consideration later this week.This comes after Deeds’ son, Gus, stabbed the state Senator and then too…
