Two methamphetamine conspiracies have resulted in the convictions of 58 people on federal charges, Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal announced Friday in a news conference.
The investigations began in 2009 in the Gray community of Washington County and continued into Sulphur Springs, Telford, Limestone, Chuckey, Jonesborough and Johnson City, as well as Elizabethton and the Horse Creek community of Greene County.
The defendants — shown as “smurfs” and “cooks” in large displays behind Graybeal at the news conference — were sentenced to a combined 348 years in federal prison.
The last of the defendants was sentenced Jan. 10 in U.S. District Court.
Numerous local law enforcement agencies were involved in the investigation.
