Off the Wall News: Carter Co. woman charged with stealing antique 'pelvic massager'

ELIZABETHTON — A Carter County woman was arrested Wednesday on a charge of breaking into a residence and stealing several items, including “a plastic or latex antique pelvic massager.”

Tamatha R. Blevins, 45, 156 Jackson Ave., was charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $500.

The theft was reported to Lt. Tim Horne of the Carter County Rescue Squad on Dec. 27 by James Matherly. Matherly said someone forced open his back door of his house on Jackson Avenue and took several items. In addition to the antique massager, Matherly said a U.S. Navy Seal tactical knife and a glass jar containing over $500 in loose paper and coin money.

While checking to see if anything else was stolen, Matherly said he found a brown leather wallet. He checked inside the wallet and said he found Blevins’ driver’s license and Social Security card. There were also two credit cards and a check book in Blevins’ name, he said.

Matherly told Horne that he was familiar with Blevins and had provided her with food and shelter when she was in need. He said he found the point of entry was a back door that had been forced open with blunt force.

When Horne inspected the door, he said he found rectangular-shwped indentations, shaded in blue. Inside the door, Matherly said he found a common 2-by-4 piece of lumber that had blue painted ends.

Horne said another witness told him she had seen Blevins on Matherly’s back porch. She said Blevins was out of her view for a few minutes and then she saw Blevins carrying something she was not able to identify.

Horne said Blevins was asked to come to the sheriff’s office for an interview, but she did not come in.

Blevins is scheduled to answer the charge in Sessions Court on Feb. 14.
