Two from Tazewell hit with meth charges

Police say two people from Tazewell picked up several drug charges Tuesday afternoon.

A Johnson City Police Department news release said Amanda Cross, 25, 1933 North Hill Drive, and Benjamin Hopson, 27, of the same address, were charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, simple possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrests result from when officers responded to a trespassing report at 502 Swadley Road, Apt. 1. During their investigation, officers found a finished one-pot methamphetamine lab inside the apartment, as well as drug paraphernalia and a half-gram of what was believed to be methamphetamine.

They were both taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where they were held on $12,000 bond. They are both scheduled to appear in Sessions Court today at 1:30 p.m.
