Police said they found drugs in the possession of a Johnson City man who eluded police pursuit twice in the last month. On Friday, Johnson City Police Department officers arrested Devon Pickel, 24, 402 Pansy St., after they spotted a vehicle that matched the description of one that evaded police pursuit in February and again in March.Police said that on Feb. 28 and March 20, officers tried to stop a blue Ford F-150 for traffic-related offenses, but on each date, those efforts proved unsuccessful. On Friday, police said they saw the vehicle, then made contact with the driver, who police said was Pickel. After talking with the officers, police said, Pickel told them he was the one who eluded police on the aforementioned dates.During the stop, however, police said they smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the truck, and called in a K-9 unit to search it. Police said the dog led them to find an unspecified amount of marijuana, Methylin and unspecified other drug equipment. Police also said they found a set of brass knuckles inside the truck.Pickel was charged with two counts of evading arrest, reckless endangerment, possession of schedule VI drugs for resale, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, following too closely and three counts of driving on a suspended license. He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was later released on $56,000 bond. His arraignment was scheduled for Monday afternoon in Sessions Court.
