The victim of a fatal crash between a pick-up and cement truck Monday afternoon has been identified as a Sullivan County man.Jerry L. Dugger, 49, 160 Carr Hollow Road, Bluff City died when a cement truck crashed into his pick-up after Dugger pulled his 2009 Nissan Frontier out in front of it, according to a press release issued by Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal.It happened on Highway75 at the intersection of Sam Jenkins Road at 4:49 p.m. According to Graybeal, Dugger turned left off of Sam Jenkins Road onto Highway 75 into the path of a cement truck headed south on the two-lane highway. The cement truck hit the driver’s door of the Nissan, Graybeal said. The driver of the cement truck, Gerald Helbert, 44, of Blountville, was not injured.A passenger in Dugger’s truck, Dalton Whitson, 20, also of 160 Carr Hollow Road, received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center by ambulance.The crash is still under investigation, but no charges are pending, Graybeal said.
