The expression “it was a zoo at work today” took on a new meaning for the staff of Woodridge’s Willow unit Monday. There was literally a zoo — a stuffed zoo — delivered to their office.
The sewists of Sew Crazy, a local charitable sewing group, donated 82 stuffed animals of all species to Willow, an inpatient unit for children and adolescents at Woodridge. The bears, dogs, cats, bunnies, giraffes, fish, and more were each sewn and stuffed by Sew Crazy members, both at their monthly meeting together and at home individually. Most fabrics and notions for this project, like all the group’s projects, were donated to Sew Crazy. In turn Sew Crazy sews it into something to be donated to meet the needs of another group.
Sew Crazy welcomes all Tri-Cities sewists, regardless of skill level or interest. For more information on the group, visit their website www.sew-crazy.org or contact Donna Horowitz at (423) 434-0424.
