Vacant house burns in Carter Co., grass fire blamed

ELIZABETHTON — A vacant house was destroyed by fire on Sunday.Owner Michael Triplett told Deputy David Munsey of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department that he was burning a small pile of brush about 10 feet from the house at 260 Blevins Hollow Road when the grass caught fire, which spread until it caught the house on fire.Munsey said Triplett told him the house had not been occupied for a long time. He said there was no insurance on the house.
