Snow shovel beating: NE Tennessee man accused of attacking girlfriend for not paying probation fees

ROGERSVILLE — An unemployed Hawkins County man is facing charges after allegedly beating his girlfriend with a snow shovel and putting a knife to her throat, among other things, because she apparently failed to pay his probation fees.Robert David Coleman, 52, 485 Grassy Creek Road, Rogersville, is on probation for a DUI arrest in 2012, and he also has a DUI arrest pending from Feb. 4.He was arraigned Monday in Hawkins County Sessions Court on charges including aggravated domestic violence and vandalism over $500. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 5.The victim told Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Michael Allen that when she came home from work Saturday, her boyfriend, Coleman, was drunk.Keep reading with our partners at the Kingsport Times-News.
