Kingsport neighbors' dispute over barking dogs lands 1 in jail, 1 in hospital

KINGSPORT — A Wednesday morning dispute over barking dogs ended with one man taken to the hospital by ambulance — possibly with a broken jaw — and the arrest of his Kingsport neighbor on an aggravated assault charge.According to a Kingsport Police Department incident report, at approximately 11:15 a.m. an officer was dispatched to a fight in the 1600 block of Pineola Avenue. Police spotted one man walking through the back yard of a residence, while another person yelled to police, “That’s him.”The man who was walking away, Carl M. Cole, 58, of 1608 Pineola Ave., obeyed a command to stop. Police learned Cole and his neighbor, 64, had been arguing over Cole’s barking dogs.The alleged victim claimed Cole entered his yard during the dispute and attacked him. Witnesses corroborated his account, stating Cole knocked the other man to the ground then got on top of him and punched him repeatedly.Keep reading with our partners at the Kingsport Times-News.
